HCMSA BOOK CLUB

The HCMSA Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the homes of Alliance Book Club members. The reading group selects a variety of books from the classics, historical fiction, fiction, non-fiction and current best sellers. The monthly reading list is published in the HCMSA Newsletter.

INVESTMENT CLUB UNION (I.C.U.)

Meets: Meets last Wednesday of the month from 10 am - 12 pm.

The group meets every third Wednesday of the month from 10 - 12 pm to discuss all tools of investing, (stocks, annuities, real estate, etc.) Each member is asked to set aside money in a small,personal investment portfolio to make real time investments of their own. At the end of the year, we see whose portfolios have performed the best. Each member is asked to subscribe to an investment newsletter
(morningstar.com, value line, etc) so we become familiar with the financial language.

Our Investment advisor discusses different investment tools to familiarize us with the whole financial world.

SERVICE TO SENIORS

One of our projects for the Alliance is “SERVICE TO SENIORS”. We began the program last year and it was so successful we wanted to keep it going. Our plans are to visit with our Senior Citizens at The Clarewood House here in Houston and present a program for them including refreshments. Last year we made over 100 Easter Baskets and presented them to the residents. We served refreshments and had music. It was a wonderful way to begin the Easter Season.

This year we are planning a Thanksgiving party on November 20, and will plan something else for them in the spring. It is a wonderful project and all members are invited to attend with us and make the day special for our Seniors.
